Higher education best practices requires the University of Connecticut to assess the potential of new software and the role of existing software on a continuing basis. To this end, ITS has been charged with the following responsibilities:
- Assess software needs for instructional computer laboratories and facilities, high technology classrooms, and administrative desktops
- Identify the appropriate software to respond to those needs
- Negotiate licenses
- Distribute software in accordance with the language in the license
The University has a separate Microsoft Campus Agreement that allows installation of certain software for no charge on University-owned machines.
