ITS delivers virtualized software to the university through UConn AnyWare.
Software can be accessed remotely through either Apps or Desktop. Both give you access to the same software but differ in delivery. With AnyWare Apps, you select only the applications you wish to use. With AnyWare Desktop (formerly Skybox), you connect to a Microsoft Windows virtual desktop that includes all the available software.
ITS supports the Cisco AnyConnect VPN service that provides secure, encrypted connection when you are accessing restricted systems on the University network from off-campus locations. While most University resources do not require a VPN (e.g., email, Core-CT, OneDrive), certain protected resources require a secure connection to UConn for access. Check with the resource administrator to verify if the VPN is required.
